Terms of use

Effective October 20, 2026

What Is Congress Doing? is a free, nonpartisan service operated by Knowledge Is Power LLC (“we,” “us”). It helps people follow what the U.S. Congress is doing. By using whatiscongressdoing.org or app.whatiscongressdoing.org, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What the service is

We gather public records about Congress, such as roll-call votes, bills and their status, official summaries and cost estimates, and present them in plain language. We aren't affiliated with the U.S. Congress, any government agency, political party or campaign, and we don't endorse any candidate, party or position.

Information, not advice

We work to be accurate and up to date, but records can be delayed, incomplete or corrected after we receive them, and our plain-language descriptions simplify complex procedures. The official record always takes precedence, and each page links to its source so you can check it. Nothing on the service is legal, financial or voting advice.

Your account

Acceptable use

Please don't:

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Contacting your representatives

Call and write buttons connect you directly with congressional offices through their published phone numbers and official contact forms. Those offices, not us, receive and handle what you send, and their own policies apply. We don't see or store your messages.

Content and data

Congressional records and official summaries are public information from the U.S. government. Member photos come from the public @unitedstates project. The site's design, text and code belong to Knowledge Is Power LLC. You're welcome to share links to our pages.

Links to other sites

We link to official and third-party websites, such as Congress.gov and congressional offices. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.

Disclaimers and limits

The service is provided free, “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, Knowledge Is Power LLC isn't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the service or reliance on its information.

Changes

We may update the service and these terms. When we change the terms, we'll post them here with a new effective date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Privacy

Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
